IMA Houston Chapter May Meeting

​Join us for our May meeting on the 15th.  Our speaker will be Lynette Pebernat, Sr Application Architect, Dynegy, Inc, presenting an IMA Leadership Academy topic on "Listening Skills."  You will receive 1.5 hr of CPE for attending this session.

Check-in starts at 5:30 pm, and dinner/speaker presentation begins at 6:00 pm.  Networking starts at 7:15 pm

Cost is $40 members/guest and $35 for students/educators.

Overview & Course Learning Objectives
Listening well is one of the most important business and relationship skills to master. It is something we do every day, but often we do not listen as well as we should. It can take a lot of dedicated practice to master listening skills. This workshop focuses on what makes listening difficult, the benefits of listening well, the different types of listening and when they should be used, as well as strategies for strengthening your listening skills so that you can be a better listener both in your personal and your professional relationships.

Through participation in this course, participants will:

1. Define listening and the factors that make listening difficult
2. Describe the benefits of strong listening skills to you, your team, and your organization
3. Identify different types of listening and when each is appropriate
4. Recognize and evaluate the skills involved in listening
5. Select strategies to use in strengthening your listening skills in personal and professional situations

Speaker Bio:
​​Lynette is a well-seasoned financial professional with over 30 years of experience primarily in the energy industry. She has held various positions in the finance organization, from Staff Accountant to Assistant Controller and has heavy experience in system implementations and upgrades.  

In her role as a Senior Application Architect of Corporate Solutions at Dynegy, Inc. in Houston, Texas, Ms. Pebernat and her team provide technical support for the company’s Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Legal applications. Lynette holds the professional certifications:  CMA, CFM, CPA, CITP and CRISC.  As a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Lynette has held various volunteer leadership positions in the Houston Chapter and Texas Council.  Currently, she is a member of the ICMA Board of Regents.  Lynette holds a BBA in Accounting from Evangel University and an MBA from Oklahoma State University.​
